True to the Phish song “Most Events Aren’t Planned”, Antelope Running Club (ARC) was never intended to become what it is today. It started as a simple Facebook group in March 2015, by a Phish fan living in New York City who just wanted to connect with fellow fans and motivate each other and share their running journeys.
Then, in 2020, the pandemic brought about a meteoric rise in membership. As races were canceled and local running clubs shut down, ARC provided a digital space for Phish-loving runners to stay connected and motivated through virtual runs and challenges.
Since then, ARC has grown far beyond a casual online running group. We now host a weekly run in Denver and fun run meetups at nearly every Phish tour stop, welcoming runners of all skill levels.
Sloths, slow llamas, fast llamas, and antelopes all have a place in ARC.
While running brought us together, our mission today is bigger: to promote health and wellness within the Phish fanbase—whether you’re just starting your fitness journey or training for your next ultra.
Our impact hasn’t gone unnoticed. ARC was at the heart of the Mondegreen Runaway Jim 5K at Dover Motor Speedway, marking the first time Phish’s management entrusted fans to organize an official festival race instead of hiring an outside vendor. The decision was based on ARC’s ongoing success in hosting the Divided Sky Fun(d) Runs, which raise money for The Divided Sky Foundation, Trey Anastasio’s 46-bed recovery center in Ludlow, VT. With months of planning and over 40 ARC volunteers, we made the Mondegreen 5K a huge success—proving that when passionate fans come together, incredible things happen.
So whether you run one mile or one hundred, whether you’re here for the music, the movement, or both, we invite you to be part of the Antelope Running Club.
Our in-person group runs and challenges are announced on Facebook, Instagram, and Strava.
